Hey Golden State, this is the first California event for ‘The Climbers’. I began this photography project 21 years ago in your state and finished it there 19 years later. I’m happy and excited to be coming back to where it all began and ended. What started as me seeking out a couple of climbers that were active in the Sierra Nevada in the 1920s turned into a two decade long around-the-world project to document climbers that were active during the ‘Golden Age’ of climbing between the 1920s and 1970s. I’ll be showing photos and talking about all of that, plus showing and talking about some of my music/celebrity portraiture. Hope to see you there.

My kind hosts at Alpenglow Sports say: "On Thursday, April 18th, we are pleased to welcome renowned photographer Jim Herrington to the shop at 7pm to kick off the Tailgate Talks of 2019! Currently on tour, Herrington will talk about his most recent book, ‘The Climbers’, the culmination of a 20 year project in which he tracked down the aging legends from the “Golden Age” of climbing. These men and women, well into their later years of life when Herrington encountered them, were at the forefront of climbing from the 1920’s to the 1970’s, and made climbing into the sport it is today. Join us on April 18th for an evening of inspiration and appreciation for these famed climbers! Doors open at 6:30 and the presentation will begin at 7. The event is FREE but beverages will be available for purchase, and all proceeds go to the Truckee Donner Land Trust. Jim will stay after the show to answer questions and sign copies of his acclaimed book, ‘The Climbers’! See you there!"
